DreamWorks TV required a fresh Spring overhaul for their channel to welcome the new season in the form of new show promos and new promo-tainment assets. We wanted the channel dressing to be colourful and lush and a stark contrast to the Christmas and winter assets we had previously created.

For Hiding in the Flowers, we had previously created a Christmas game that had a character hiding in a gift being shuffled around leaving the viewer to then guess where they are hiding. The game leant itself nicely to a Spring overhaul and a new set of assets were designed and built. The most complex asset was the flower that opens to reveal the character. We favoured Blenders geometry Nodes system as we tend to lean more towards procedural systems wherever possible because they are easy to tweak later on in the production if needed.

The Puzzle Cube game encourages viewers to try to keep up and predict the next turn of the cube and to successfully guess which of their favourite characters will be revealed when the game reaches its conclusion. After a couple of attempts to create the assets in After Effects it was decided that a 3D approach would be much more manageable. We created a template system which allowed for the characters to be swapped out and applied to the cubes shader. The initial rigging of the cube ended up being fairly complex to setup but once in place, we created a template set of game it comes that could be reused in future assets.

We also created a new series of matching games that tested the viewers knowledge of their favourite characters. A special item or a piece of clothing is presented and an option of three potential owners are shown at the bottom of the screen. The viewer must beat the clock in identifying the owner of the shown item.

The project aired on DreamWorks TV during the Spring of 2023.
